365 Challenge Day minus 19

Just discovered that MacJournal has a focus mode. The green text on a dark background reminded me of the first IBM computer that I worked on.

I remember that distinctive sound of the clunky keys that could easily be mistaken for hundreds of mice running a mock in the office.

On a holiday in Northern France we would be awoken by the sounds of the mice running across the bedroom floor and around the beams. It sounded like they were wearing clogs.

It is Saturday today (I guess you already knew that), yet, it feels like a lazy Sunday. Weird.

Here in Ireland we have endured weeks of abysmal weather. The weather is normally wet, but this year we have end so little sunshine. The rain has been steady and persistent. The only highlights was a couple of days of very cold frosty mornings.

To be honest, I have not thought about the challenge and any further preparations. I have realised just how difficult it is going to be. My school-styled weekly timetable made that very clear.

As I type this entry into my daily journal, my mind is thinking about how best to tackle the daily journal entry. If there is one thing that I have learned from my timetable exercise it is that I will need to ensure that I leave the weekends free to act as a buffer should have fall behind.

My feelings about this challenge are mixed. I am enjoying telling people about it as a boost in that, the more people I tell, the more real it becomes.

Less 20 days to go till I embark on this epic journey. I want to achieve so much in just one single year. It has taken over two years to get my head into to gear and I have given much thought about the future. There is so much uncertainty or things that are unclear at the moment.

Brexit inches closer and the true extent of this is still to unfold. We have heard there will be chip shortages in Ireland when Brexit finally happens. Many are still clinging onto hope. Hope that there will be a deal. My status here in Ireland is unclear, but what can I do except wait.

COVID19 is still causing chaos and although there is a vaccine, this is not a cure. Being vaccinated will not stop the spreading of the virus. We are only managing the effect. Widespread disruption will continue well into 2021 and most likely 2022. This is one of the reasons that I decided that I needed to make this happen in 2021.

I want 2021 challenge to help me make decisions about my future, what I want to do, and so on. Yet, it is hard with so many unknowns due Brexit and the ongoing COVID19 saga.

This challenge will provide a great distraction from the chaos that will continue to surround us all.

In terms of the journal entries, it would help to have a framework in which to control the flow of the content.

Each day must provide a summary of the story of the day, together with some reflection. Maybe, announce the word for the next story

Then, the journal moves onto the theme for that day. It almost seems like I should be writing a daily news letter. Some of the content, however, might be videos and/or podcasts. This will evolve as I progress.

  • Synopsis for the story of the day. (maybe, provide a scaled down version of it as suggested by Steve, 250 words story).
  • Author Reflection
  • Tomorrows word
  • Challenge Stats (Total words selected, stories completed, numbers of words, etc.
  • Theme of the day generic format:
    • Attention - Image + Tagline
    • Interest - Content that offers value
    • Desire - Benefits and value
    • Action - So the next seed

Brain browsing this little bullet list has triggered another thought in my mind. I need to put together a media plan. This needs to be a simple calendar by month:

  • Theme:
  • Topic:
  • #Hashtags:
  • Keywords / Tags

For this, I would use an Excel style yearly calendar like the ones you can find on the internet as free downloads. A month-by-month format.

An alternative to this would be to use google calendar for the challenge. This could then be shared. This would make more sense and it would be available via link in the blog.
